Government paperwork almost always still needs to exist on paper — council tax forms, HMRC letters and returns, DWP and benefit forms, and passport or visa applications. Here's how to get any of them printed without owning a printer.
Step 1: Save the form as a PDF
Government forms are almost always downloadable as PDFs from GOV.UK or the relevant department's website. Download it rather than trying to print directly from a browser tab, which can sometimes cut off margins.
Step 2: Upload and check the preview
Upload the PDF and check the page preview carefully — official forms are sometimes machine-read or scanned back in, so nothing should be cropped, rotated, or misaligned.
Step 3: Choose the right settings
- Black & white is normally sufficient unless the form specifically requires colour
- Single-sided unless instructed otherwise by the issuing department
- Print at 100% scale rather than "fit to page" if exact dimensions matter
Step 4: Order with confidence
Documents are encrypted and deleted after printing, which matters for forms containing national insurance numbers, benefit details, or other sensitive information. Orders before 2:00 PM UK time on a working day are dispatched the same day.
Filling it in and submitting
Once your printed form arrives, complete it exactly as instructed by the issuing department and submit it via the specified method — post, in person, or a scanned copy, depending on the form.
