How writing a letter online works
- 1
Write your letter
Type it in the editor above — no account needed to start, and your draft saves automatically as you go. Choose portrait or landscape, and add a signature if you want one.
- 2
Preview the real page
The preview renders the same file that gets printed, at the real page size, so what you see is what arrives — not an approximation of it.
- 3
We print and post it
Sent flat in a hardbacked envelope, never folded, to any UK address. Orders placed before 2 PM on working days are dispatched the same day.
Why write a letter online
A posted letter still carries weight that email does not — for a complaint, a formal notice, a thank you, or a note to someone who would rather hold a page than read a screen. Writing it online means you can do it from anywhere, without a printer, stamps, or a trip to the post box.
Printing & delivery
Every letter is posted with tracked delivery, sent flat in a hardbacked envelope — never folded — to any UK postcode. A one-page black & white letter costs from £4.27, tracked postage included.
How to write a letter, in short
Start with the date and, for a formal letter, the recipient's address. Open with a clear salutation ("Dear —"), say what the letter is about in your first paragraph, then give the supporting detail. Close with a sign-off that matches the tone — "Yours sincerely" for a named recipient, "Yours faithfully" if you do not have one — and your name. See the full formal letter layout for where each part goes.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need an account to write a letter online?
- No. You can start typing straight away as a guest, and your draft saves automatically as you write. If you sign in before ordering, the letter you were writing follows you into your account rather than being lost.
- What does it cost to write and post a letter with printle?
- A one-page black & white letter costs from £4.27, including tracked postage. There is no separate "writing" fee: you pay for printing per page plus delivery, and the exact price is shown before you pay.
- Can I see what my letter will actually look like before I pay?
- Yes. The preview renders the same file that gets printed, at the real page size, so what you see in the editor is what arrives in the envelope — not an approximation.
- Can I choose portrait or landscape, or add a signature?
- Both. You can switch a letter between portrait and landscape at any point while writing, and add a signature — drawn, typed, or uploaded — that prints exactly where you place it on the page.
- How do I write a letter to my MP or a formal recipient?
- Use the editor as you would a word processor: address block, date, salutation, body, sign-off. For a formal letter such as one to an MP, keep paragraphs short and state your request plainly in the first paragraph — the rest of the letter can then give the supporting detail.
- Is it possible to write to someone in prison this way?
- Yes — a letter written and printed through printle is sent flat in a hardbacked envelope, which several UK prisons require rather than a folded letter. Check the specific establishment's current mail guidance before sending, since rules vary by prison.
- How long does it take to post my letter after I order?
- Orders placed before 2 PM on a working day are dispatched the same day. After that, dispatch is the next working day.
- Will my letter be folded to fit the envelope?
- No — every letter is sent flat, packed in a hardbacked envelope, never folded.
- Is my letter tracked?
- Yes. Every letter is posted with Royal Mail Tracked 48 or Tracked 24, so you can follow it and see when it has been delivered.
- Can I write more than one page?
- Yes, there is no minimum or maximum — a letter can be a single page or run to several, and pages are added to the same document as you write.
- Do you deliver to every UK address?
- Yes, we deliver to every UK postcode. The delivery address is set at checkout and is separate from your billing details.
