Do You Need a Printer to Return Items? (Vinted, eBay, Amazon)

No, you don't need to own a printer to return items — even though most retailers and marketplaces send return labels as documents designed to be printed. There are two ways around it.

Option 1: Use a printer-free QR code return

Amazon, and increasingly other retailers, let you show a QR code on your phone at a participating drop-off point instead of printing anything. Check your return instructions to see if this is offered — it's the quickest option when available.

Option 2: Have the label printed and posted to you

If a printed label is required — which is still the case for most Vinted, eBay, and many Amazon and Royal Mail returns — you don't need to own a printer or visit a print shop. Instead:

  1. Save the return or shipping label as a PDF
  2. Upload it to an online printing service
  3. Choose black & white A4 printing (the standard for shipping labels)
  4. Have it printed and delivered to your address

A single label costs from as little as 15p to print, with no minimum order, so it's a normal use case — not overkill.
